Autism is one of the fastest growing issues facing society and our educational system. Ilene Schwartz, chair of the College’s special education program, developed the nationally recognized program Project DATA, combining early childhood education and applied behavior analysis to meet the educational needs of students with Autism. This program is currently being replicated in many states.
We count many bold thinkers in our alum community. At the forefront of this work are College of Education alumni, such as Diana Hess, newly appointed Senior Vice President of the Spencer Foundation, and Kareen Borders who recently received a Teachers Innovation Award from PBS.
We shape the future success of children and adults by reimagining what’s possible for all. We ground our work in evidence because it helps us to judge the quality of our efforts. We commit to continuously improving the way we work to develop democratic citizens, engage students in high quality learning, and promote justice through education.
