Tom Stritikus Associate Dean of Academic Programs Miller 206, Box 353600 |
Ph.D., University of California, Berkeley, 2000
A distinguishing feature of my work is that it examines the daily practice of teachers and learners through the macro policy and social contexts surrounding the education of immigrant students. In this regard, I have kept my work focused on the educational realities of students, and doing so has brought me in close collaboration with students and parents, teachers, principals, and district and state-policymakers. My involvement with these groups has strengthened my commitment to improve educational policies and practices for culturally and linguistically diverse students.
My work has appeared in juried journals aimed at policymakers and researchers interested in bilingual/ESL education (Bilingual Research Journal, International Journal of Bilingualism and Bilingual Education, and Journal of Language, Identity, and Education) and broader audiences of researchers, policymakers, and practitioners (Teachers College Record, Journal of Teacher Education, Educational Policy, and Educational Policy Analysis Archives).
