Education Courses Curriculum Vitae

After graduating from the UW School Psychology PhD program in 2010, I joined the faculty in 2011, where my current position includes teaching several courses and serving as the director of internship and practicum training opportunities for doctoral students. My current clinical and research interests include pediatric and school psychology, autism spectrum disorders, school consultation, and culturally responsive mental health services for Spanish-speaking families.

My graduate training included a year-long internship in school psychology, after which I earned the NCSP credential (Nationally Certified School Psychologist) and worked part-time as a school psychologist in a local district while working towards my doctoral degree. I then completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship in child clinical and pediatric psychology at Children's Hospital Los Angeles (University of Southern California). At CHLA, I provided assessment and individual, family, and group therapy in English and Spanish to children and adolescents with medical and mental health issues as well as developmental disabilities. Training opportunities on my internship included co-leading a support group for adolescents with type 1 diabetes experiencing treatment adherence issues, providing individual and family therapy to youth in departments including nephrology, hematology/oncology, rheumatology, endocrinology, and an outpatient mental health clinic, conducting assessments with youth with ADHD, anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorders, and traumatic brain injury, conducting bilingual (English/Spanish) assessments, and completing the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) training program.

After my pre-doctoral internship, I returned to Seattle to complete a post-doctoral fellowship in autism spectrum disorders at Seattle Children's Hospital. My fellowship included clinical and research opportunities such as leading school-based social skills groups as part of several multi-site studies, and providing assessment and therapy in a clinic setting. In addition to my UW faculty position, I currently work as a licensed psychologist at Seattle Children's, where I provide assessment and therapy to children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders.
