Getting Started

Download applicationTalk to the helpful folks in the Office of Student Services and the Office of Teacher Education about becoming an elementary teacher!

1. Get started by getting general information.

  • Attend an information session offered several times a quarter.

  • If you are unable to attend an information session, you may request an MIT information packet by calling (206) 543-7834, email edinfo@u.washington.edu or stop by 206 Miller.

2. Check prerequisite coursework status

  • Elementary applicants must have their prerequisite coursework evaluated by the Office of Student Services in 206 Miller. Elementary applicants may drop off or mail in unofficial transcripts (and course descriptions if you attended a school other than UW) along with the Prerequisite Evaluation form to 206 Miller.

3. Get specific questions answered/Stay on track!

At anytime after reviewing the information and getting coursework evaluated for the MIT program, you may speak with someone to get your questions answered about applying.

  • In person:  15 minute drop in appointments are available every Wednesday from 2:00-4:00pm in 206 Miller Hall. These are on a first come, first served basis and are for the MIT program only. Quarter breaks may vary.

  • Set up an appointment:  Please email edinfo@u.washington.edu to schedule an appointment for questions you have about the MIT program.
