Specific Information for Out of State Applicants

1. Get started by reviewing general information.

  • You may request an MIT information packet by calling (206) 543-7834, or email edinfo@u.washington.edu.
  • Phone advising is available after reviewing the general information.  Please email paulajw@u.washington.edu to set up a 20 minute phone advising appointment.

2. Check prerequisite/endorsement coursework status

  • Elementary applicants must have their prerequisite coursework evaluated by the Office of Student Services in 206 Miller. Elementary applicants may mail in unofficial transcripts (and course descriptions if you attended a school other than UW) along with the Prerequisite Evaluation form to 206 Miller.
  • Secondary applications may have their endorsement coursework evaluated by contacting the appropriate subject department.  Contact information for each subject/endorsement can be found here:  http://education.washington.edu/areas/tep/pathways/endorsements/index.html

3. Specific testing information for out of state applicants

If you are applying from outside the State of Washington, it is possible to substitute the West-B requirement with the Praxis I or CBEST.  There is no current substitute for the West-E tests.  Out of State applicants may therefore apply without West-E scores but must take the West-E once in Washington State.  All applicants who apply from the State of Washington must take the West-B and West-E; the State will not allow substitutions.

4. Get specific questions answered/Stay on track!

At any time after reviewing the information and getting coursework evaluated for the MIT program, you may speak with someone to get your questions answered about applying.
