IRB/Human Subjects Workshop
Friday, November 13, 2009

Faculty and staff from the College who are familiar with research and with the regulations governing the use of human subjects in research will provide an overview of the steps you must take before conducting research using human subjects.  This workshop is intended for doctoral students and advanced master’s students; all other interested graduate students are encouraged to attend, too.

Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Program  “What Now?” Panel Discussion & Social

Participants in the Peer-to-Peer Mentoring program are invited to this special informational event and social!  A panel of experienced students will help new students think about “what’s next” in the quarter and in the academic year.  There will be time set aside for questions – and afterwards, stay for a social hour with other students in the Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Program.

The Office of Research Support and the Office of Student Services sponsored a Research & Inquiry (R&I) Information Workshop on Friday, May 8, 2009.  This workshop was intended for those PhD students who planned to do their R&I presentations during the 2009-2010 academic year.  The workshop covered the purposes and expectations for the R&I experience, the experiences of recent R&I presenters, and ways to think about scaffolding the R&I paper.

The Office of Research Support and the Office of Student Services sponsored an AERA Proposal Writing Workshop on Tuesday, May 5, 2009.  Faculty and staff from the College who are familiar with writing conference proposals provided an overview of the process as well as examples. This workshop was intended for doctoral students and advanced master’s students who may be thinking about preparing a proposal for AERA's (anticipated) August deadline, but all interested graduate students were welcomed to attend.

The process built relationships with students and served as a networking site for students to form writing groups.
