Winston Benjamin, Office of Minority Recruitment and Retention Graduate Staff Assistant

winston benjaminWinston Benjamin is a Masters student in Educational Communications and Technology and a newly appointment Graduate Staff Assistant in the Office of Minority Recruitment and Retention. He is interested in researching the education of at risk students, specifically how students take the social justice curriculum and apply it to their lives to encourage social change. Benjamin will be focusing on the recruitment angle of the Office of Minority Recruitmetn and Retention. These duties entails outreach to universities expressing the message of diversity and social justice, equity and access for all students, which is at the cornerstone of the mission of the Office of Minority Recruitment and Retention and the College of Education. Benjamin is a Posse Scholar and a movie buff.

Aurora Flores Garcia, Office of Minority Recruitment and Retention Graduate Staff Assistant

aurora flored garciaAurora Flores Garcia is Masters student in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and a newly appointment Graduate Staff Assistant in the Office of Minority Recruitment and Retention.  She strives to understand the Latino student experience and to support, empower, and engage this community and their families. Garcia is the lead for Outreach and Event Planning. Event Planning consist of planning and executing of all the retention events we put on for the COE community. This quarter these will include a Quarter Kickoff, Graduate Student Writing Workshop, and a Husky Game Tailgate. She is also the lead for Outreach with COE student organizations, the University of Washington community, and the greater Seattle community. Garcia is a Posse Foundation scholar and enjoys outdoor activities in her leisure time.

Bely Luu, Stewardship and Events Coordinator.

Bely LuuBely Luu joins us from the UW School of Medicine Office of Multicultural Affairs, where she was a Program Coordinator.  Prior to that role, she was as Development Officer at the International Examiner.  Luu is an active volunteer and currently sits on the local steering committee for Nisei Student Relocation Commemorative Fund, providing scholarships to disadvantaged students.
