The Noyce Teaching Scholars Program, funded by the National Science Foundation, is seeking talented individuals in science, mathematics, or engineering who are considering the teaching profession.
This prestigious national program is competitive. It will fund 36 scholarships for UW math & science teachers, with approximately nine awards to be given per year starting from 2009 to 2012 The program provides up to $15,000 of financial support to selected individuals entering the secondary teacher
preparation program at the University of Washington, and intending to teach in local high-needs schools upon graduation. The program will support this community of scholars by providing faculty guidance, special discussion groups, experiences in schools, and on-going professional development throughout the first year of teaching.

Those individuals who have already been accepted into the University of Washington’s Teacher Education Program are eligible to apply, as are individuals still planning to apply for the program’s Spring Quarter 2012 start. Following certification in the Teacher Education Program, Noyce Scholars will be required to teach at least two years in local high-needs schools.
The Noyce Scholars Program is a partnership between the College of Education, the College of Arts and Sciences, and local school districts.
Priority will be given to those who have their application materials in by October 7, 2011 at 6:00 PM.
