Grant Proposal Guide: Overview

The College of Education provides support to faculty members who seek to obtain external funding for their research and projects. The College’s Grants Manager, Louise Clauss (lclauss@u.washington.edu, 616-8291), can help you with

  • identifying sources of funding;
  • preparing the budget, application forms, and other components of the proposal;
  • forwarding the proposal to the UW Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) for institutional review, monitoring the progress of their review, and responding to their inquiries about the proposal;
  • completion and processing of related human subjects application;
  • submission of grant proposal to sponsor.

As soon as you decide to submit a grant proposal, contact Louise to begin the process of developing the proposal. We will arrange a meeting to discuss a budget and timeline for completion. I will ask you to complete a Proposal Intake Form, which requests information that you will need to plan your project, and that I will use to initiate the EGC1 Form that will accompany your proposal to OSP.
