Information for Graduates

The UW College of Education is pleased to announce our Graduation Celebration and Reception honoring 2012-2013 degree recipients.

Questions about Graduation

Graduating students and faculty should arrive by 8:30 am.  Guests should arrive and take their seats by 8:50 a.m.

Where should I park?

Parking for this and other June 15 on-campus graduation events will require a permit.  Students can order parking permits when completing the Commencement Registration/Order Form between May 6 and May 26.  Please see additional parking information here.

What should I wear?

For graduates and faculty, wearing graduation regalia is encouraged, but not required.  Plan to arrive at Miller Hall dressed in your regalia. Use these videos to learn about regalia and how to wear it.  All attendees should note that this year’s ceremony will take place outdoors.  We highly recommend that you check the weather forecast and then plan your attire accordingly. 

Where on campus is the Quad located?

The Quad is located in the north central part of campus.  Our celebration will take place in the northeast end of the Quad, between Miller and Raitt Halls.  You can find a map here.

Who can walk?

uw coe students walking in 2013 graduationThose students completing their degrees from Summer 2012through Summer 2013 may participate in the College of Education ceremony, even if they have not yet completed their coursework.

The Office of Student Services already has lists of graduates from Summer 2012, Autumn 2012, and Winter 2013.

Students who plan to graduate in Spring 2013 and Summer 2013 and wish to have their name listed in the 2012 College of Education Graduation Program should submit their graduation information to the Office of Student Services no later than Monday, May 27. You will be asked to provide us with your name, your degree, your program of study, your advisor’s name, and the title of your doctoral dissertation (if applicable). You may submit your information online.

How many guests may I bring?

There are no restrictions on the number of guests you may bring.  Please let us know your guest count early in advance through your RSVP

How do I RSVP for the College of Education graduation ceremony?

Complete the online survey. Please RSVP no later than Monday, June 3.

Where can I find information about the University’s Commencement Ceremony?

This year’s University of Washington Commencement Ceremony will take place on the afternoon of Saturday, June 15, at CenturyLink Field in downtown Seattle.  For more information, please visit the Commencement website.

Please note: If you plan to graduate in Spring 2013 and you wish to have your name listed in the 2012 University of Washington Commencement Program, you must complete one of the following steps:

Will accommodations be provided for persons with disabilities?

The Quad is wheelchair accessible and we will have a seating area for persons needing special assistance or accommodations.  Please contact the Office of Student Services at edinfo@u.washington.edu. We are happy to help!

Will refreshments be served?

Coffee, juice, & water will be available before the ceremony.  Additional refreshments will be provided after the ceremony.
