William Zumeta Incoming President of the Association of Higher Education
William “Bill” Zumeta is the incoming president of the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) and professor of public affairs and higher education at the University of Washington.

The Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) promotes collaboration among its members and others engaged in the study of higher education through research, conferences, and publications, including its highly regarded journal, The Review of Higher Education.
An ASHE member for 28 years and an active member of ASHE's Council on Public Policy, Zumeta brings a wealth of experience to this role. Zumeta is a Faculty Associate of the UW's Center for Innovation and Research in Graduate Education, a Senior Fellow at the National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education, and an Associated Scholar of the Program on Private Higher Education at the University at Albany-SUNY. He has also served on the editorial board of the Review of Higher Education and on the national Policy Council of the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management.
As he writes, “[As ASHE President] I'd like to help move forward a direction started by several of my recent predecessors as ASHE president, namely to increase the linkage of members' research to policy and practice debates. In this vein I will seek to bring significant federal and state policymakers to the annual conference and will endeavor to further the training of members in how to bring their research to the attention of decision makers and make it useable by them.”
