Prospective Students
New Admissions
Visiting the College of Education
Thank you for your interest in visiting the College of Education at the University of Washington! We encourage you to come to Seattle, walk around our beautiful campus, and meet our faculty and staff. To facilitate your visit, we would like to make the following suggestions as to who you might see and what you might do while you are in the area.
Prospective Student Days
If you are an admitted prospective graduate student, the best way to visit us is to participate in Prospective Student Days – March 29-30, 2012. This series of events will help you get acquainted with the College of Education and the University of Washington. During Prospective Student Days, you will have several opportunities to network with students and faculty from the College of Education and various other departments and to learn about funding, housing, campus climate, and living in Seattle.
Individual Visits
If you are unable to participate in Prospective Student Days, then we are happy to offer the following recommendations for your visit:
- Request an appointment with a faculty member (ideally your assigned faculty advisor!) in your area of interest. You can find a list of each area’s faculty on the right-hand side of the page for each program area.
Arrange a meeting with a current student in your program of interest. This is a great way to learn more about the program from the student perspective. The faculty member you contact (above) can very likely recommend a student to contact; if not, we suggest contacting the Area office by email and asking for a recommendation.
Visit a class. With the permission of the instructor, you can sit in on a class and observe. To view current course offerings and descriptions, visit our Current Courses web page and select from the courses in your Area of interest.
Take a campus tour. If you are not familiar with the UW already, we recommend that you stop by the UW Visitor's Center and get connected with one of their daily guided tours.
Other Questions. You may wish to schedule an appointment with a staff member in the Office of Student Services near the end of your visit. This would provide an opportunity to ask general questions about the UW or the College of Education, or to seek clarification about the admissions process. Visiting Seattle / Accommodations
