Center for Educational Leadership (CEL)

It has been a very exciting and productive few months at the Center for Educational Leadership (CEL). In addition to the good work already happening in the field with CEL’s 5 Dimensions of Teaching and Learning Framework (5D), CEL also submitted a response to a major RFP for school turn-arounds for the Newark Public Schools. Seizing upon Mike Copland’s Central Office Transformation work, CEL also mounted a successful trade-show exhibit at the recent American Association of School Administrators (AASA) conference in Phoenix. Additionally, CEL hosted a sold-out Coaching in a Culture of Change session with Katherine Casey at the Center for Horticulture, began a deep round of instructional leadership work with the Seattle Public Schools, and secured a new contract for content coaching work in Teton County, Wyoming.

Our ongoing projects are also going strong, and continue to help extend the College’s reach around the country, including Sandy Austin and Mike Copland’s work with superintendents in Idaho, Max Silverman’s work in New Jersey, Grace Chiu’s work in Wyoming and Steve Fink’s work in Minnesota and Alaska.

CEL also welcomed three new full-time staff members into vital leadership positions: Donna Andle as Finance Manager, Daniel Holland as Marketing and Communications Director, and Bill Corrigan as Instructional Technology Manager.

Looking forward, CEL is continuously poised to work on helping school leaders improve instructional practice with the 5D Framework, helping schools improve practice through subject matter coaching, helping district leaders with comprehensive Central Office Transformations, and help turn around chronically under-performing schools.
