Telework continues to be encouraged for all staff, including student employees, whose job duties can be performed remotely without hampering critical operations, at least through the middle of September 2020, pending further guidance from public health officials.
The College’s Technology Center is available to provide any training or guidance that is needed for using equipment or hardware, using Zoom for meetings or forwarding phones. During this period of modified operations, please use the Help Desk Ticket Request system.
Please continue following the UW telework policy and make sure you have completed a telework agreement with your supervisor, using it as a guide to develop work and check-in/accountability plans. For supervisors with staff whose roles cannot be fully transitioned to remote work, please work with Bernadette Dwyer to develop alternative assignments that staff can complete from home during this time period.
We will continue to take the lead from our community partners, including school districts and programs, on their own current conditions. If you will be performing in-person work, please implement social distancing protocols to the maximum extent possible.
Time off policies
In addition to existing policies and in order to keep our community healthy, the President has authorized expanded use of sick leave for employees in positions who do not have the option to telework and who have significant health concerns or feel unsafe in the workplace. In addition to sick time off, staff may also use other types of time off for family care emergency absences when regularly scheduled care plans are interrupted due to a school, camp, facility closure and/or the unexpected absence of a care provider. You may also request to use vacation time if you need to be away from work. If you do not have available paid time off, you can request unpaid time off.
Employees feeling sick
If you are feeling sick, please stay home and get well. If you are concerned that you may have been exposed to COVID-19, you should follow the guidance provided on the UW’s novel coronavirus information website (see: What do I do if I feel sick?), which is being updated frequently.
The University is actively responding to developments in the coronavirus pandemic and communicating to campus frequently. If there are changes to UW operations, central administration will let us know. In the meantime, if you need to request time off, please do so with your supervisor and we encourage supervisors to be flexible and creative so that the work of your department continues.
