As students and families re-enter schools, it is crucial to establish collaboration between teachers and families. This requires new approaches that address racial inequalities, while focusing on racial equity and the collective trauma of the pandemic. This session will share strategies for partnering with families, building equity focused school communities, and creating strong alliances with families.
How do we encourage and nurture student growth in areas that motivate them to make a difference in the world around them? This course focuses on ways teachers can “flip” their required curricular units into “Project Investigations” that engage children in real world problems. Educators should come to the workshop with curricular units in mind, and with the goal of preparing inquiry activities for students to do when they come back to school in the fall.
