Lynn Dietrich

Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Programs

Lynn Dietrich, PhD, is a Teaching Professor and Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Programs.  She joined the college in 2015 after working in the field of early learning as a university faculty member, accreditation consultant, program evaluator, trainer, project director, presenter, and curricula author.  In her role as the Assistant Dean, Lynn is responsible for the administration of undergraduate BA programs in the college: Early Care and Education (ECE), Early Childhood and Family Studies (ECFS), Education, Communitites, and Organizations (ECO), Education Studies (EDST), and the minor in Education, Learning, and Society (ELS).  She has been an active member of the University of Washington community, chairing the University Committee on Curriculum Administration, and the Faculty Council on Teaching and Learning (FCTL),  co-chairing the Provost's Working Group on Defining Instructional Quality, and serving on the Faculty Council for Academic Standards (FCAS).  

At the University of Mississippi, Lynn contributed to the development of the undergraduate endorsement and M.Ed. programs in early childhood education, and at Mississippi State University she served as the Director of the Early Childhood Institute. She began her career in early childhood education as a preschool teacher at the Smithsonian Early Enrichment Center, located in the National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.
