Position Description

Discovery Bay Children’s Center (discoverybaycenter.org) is looking for a Lead Summer Camp Teacher who loves spending their days exploring, creating, and learning alongside children.

Our program is small by design. We are a small, passionate team of educators who believe childhood should be full of curiosity, collaboration, and joyful discovery. With a 7:1 child-to-teacher ratio, we are able to build strong relationships with children and create experiences that truly respond to their interests.

At Discovery Bay, we approach our work through an anti-bias lens. We believe children are thoughtful observers of the world, and we support them in developing empathy and respect for differences. Our educators help create a space where all children and families feel seen, valued, and reflected in our classroom community.

Our summer days might include bird watching, low tide exploration, art in the park, baking cookies together, or hopping on the city bus for a field trip to a nearby park, museum, or library. We love when teachers bring their own passions and expertise to the mix and help expand what our days can become.

What You’ll Do

●  Plan and lead engaging activities inspired by children’s interests

●  Support children’s play, creativity, and collaboration

●  Supervise and care for children in a safe, nurturing environment

●  Take children on local field trips using public transportation

●  Work closely with a small, supportive teaching team

●  Help create the kind of summer memories children talk about for years

To apply: Send a resume and a short note telling us a bit about your experience working with children and why Discovery Bay interests you to lara@discoverybaycenter.org
