POSITION SUMMARY

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides individualized, evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to clients in their home environment. The BCBA is responsible for conducting assessments, designing and overseeing behavior intervention plans, training caregivers and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), and monitoring client progress toward treatment goals. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering compassionate, family-centered care.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assessment & Treatment Planning

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments including Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), preference assessments, and skills assessments (e.g., VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, AFLS).
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and behavior intervention plans (BIPs) based on assessment results and family priorities.
  • Set measurable, meaningful goals aligned with each client's developmental needs and family goals.
  • Update treatment plans at least every 6 months or as clinically indicated.

Direct Service & Supervision

  • Provide direct ABA therapy in the client's home, including skill-building programs and behavior reduction strategies.
  • Supervise and mentor RBTs and Behavior Technicians in accordance with BACB supervision requirements (minimum 5% of total therapy hours).
  • Conduct regular supervision meetings, model programming, and provide real-time performance feedback to RBTs.
  • Ensure treatment integrity by observing sessions and reviewing data regularly.

Caregiver Training & Collaboration

  • Provide structured caregiver training to ensure generalization of skills across settings and caregivers.
  • Collaborate with families to incorporate their values, routines, and priorities into treatment.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding client progress, schedule changes, and treatment updates.
  • Coordinate with other service providers (school, OT, SLP, etc.) to ensure a cohesive support team.

Data Collection & Documentation

  • Analyze data regularly to evaluate treatment effectiveness and make data-driven clinical decisions.
  • Complete clinical documentation including session notes, progress reports, and insurance authorization requests in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Prepare progress reports for insurance companies, families, and other stakeholders as required.

Ethics & Professional Development

  • Adhere to the BACB Ethics Code and all applicable state regulations.
  • Maintain current BCBA certification and all required continuing education.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and peer consultation.
  • Identify and manage ethical concerns promptly and appropriately.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current BCBA certification in good standing with the BACB.
  • Active state licensure as a Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) or equivalent.
  • Master's degree in ABA, Psychology, Special Education, or related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of ABA experience, preferably in a home or community setting.
  • Experience conducting FBAs and writing comprehensive behavior intervention plans.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (in-home travel required).
  • Successful completion of background check and fingerprinting.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Familiarity with insurance billing and authorization processes.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages) a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Services delivered in clients' private homes; professional demeanor in family spaces is essential.
  • Schedule may include afternoons, evenings, and Saturdays to align with family availability.
  • Must be able to sit on the floor, move quickly, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed during therapy.
  • Must be comfortable working with individuals who may exhibit challenging behaviors.
