PODCAST: An Indigenous community’s fight for educational equity and cultural reclamation
I am an African American mother, former middle school social studies teacher, and current Assistant Professor of Justice and Equity in Education. My teaching and research center the scholarship, histories, cultures, educational experiences, and justice agendas of Indigenous and Black peoples and communities. I explore Indigenous and Black families’ and communities’ engagement, self-determination and advocacy in the education of their children through engagement in community-based research using Indigenous and decolonizing methodologies and abolitionist and culturally sustaining/revitalizing frameworks.
